Meet the Producer.

Welcome to the Nelson Ranch page! I’m Lowell and I am the owner of Nelson Ranch. Nelson Ranch is a purebred and fullblood Simmental operation, which is owned/managed by myself and operated in conjunction with Crooked Lakes Livestock and Grain ltd.

In 2014, I purchased my first four Fullblood Fleckvieh cows, which are now the foundation of the Nelson Ranch herd. Over the years and through tough culling there are 25 quality registered breeding cows grazing the Nelson pastures. These dams are bred for longevity, functionality, productivity, and to raise bulls that can do the same in other herds. This herd is small, being only 8 years in the making, but it is mighty- producing 5-7 quality sale bulls a year. Initially, Nelson Ranch sold yearlings, but I made the switch to sell 2 year olds as the Nelson Ranch cows calve in March/April with the Crooked Lakes Commercial herd. By selling two year olds, I can provide producers with mature bulls that can handle more cows and cover more ground, without pushing the feed to them.

Behind the scenes, I am building small red angus herd to one day offer a few more calving ease options for my clients. For now there are no red angus bulls on offer as we build the herd, but stay tuned in the coming years!

Feel free to explore the Nelson Ranch page and check out the sires and females we have on the farm, and check out the Crooked Lakes Livestock page to check out beef we have for sale.

Our Mission

Nelson Ranch’s mission is to provide quality bulls to my clients. I aim to do this by backing these bulls with quality genetics, reliable dams, and proper nutrition and care. The needs of the customer and the animals comes first and foremost at Nelson Ranch. I’m here to work with you to help you meet your herd’s goals.

Meet the Enforcer.

Enforcer may not be the right word for Tank. This guy is a lover not a fighter. But our family couldn’t be more lucky to have Tank in our lives. When he isn’t out making friends with the sale bulls, you can find Tank taking rides in the side-by-side or sleeping on the kitchen floor, waiting for his next meal.

“This lifestyle isn’t just about animals It’s about beliefs and values passed down through generations. Ensuring things are left better for those yet to come. It’s all about Legacy.”
