Dams

  • Anchor D Dorian 488D

488D is a secret weapon. Time after time she produces small birth weight calves with great length of spine and style. To add to the list, she is polled! This is her calf in the video as well. Sadly, this year her calf froze its ears when she was born, but that doesn’t seem to stop her. The first photo was taken on April 1st, (the day her calf was born this year) and the second photo (which is a bit blurry) was taken September 19th. Her heifer calf, Nelson Hera 3H, has grown like a weed this year.

  • Nelson Evolver 6E

Evolver is a second calver who has blown me away both of her calving seaons. She is a young cow sired by Richmond Regis, which is where she gets so much of her muscle expression. Her calves have also inherited this strong muscling. Evolver has a bull calf at foot who is sired by another Nelson Ranch herd sire named Anchor D Cobalt 272C.

  • Nelson Gorgeous LJN 8G

Here is a polled beauty. She’s a moderate framed cow with lots of body to her. Not only is she deep in the rib and hind quarter, but she also has a phenomenal, compact udder.

This year, Gorgeous has a half blood red angus heifer at foot, who is growing like a weed!

  • Nelson Gypsy 3G

Gypsy is a bred heifer that I’m very excited for! Her dam, Anchor D Dorian 488D, was bought from an Anchor D Ranch Pasture treasures sale and has not let me down yet. Gypsy is sired by Anchor D Cobalt and I couldn’t be happier with how she has turned out. Keep an out for her calves in the next few years, Gypsy’s potential is highly anticipated on the ranch.
